United States Coast Guard FRC Support Facility Home Porting Fast Response Cutters

The Fast Response Cutters (FRC) Support Building was designed and constructed to support home-porting of FRC at the U.S. Coast Guard Base Unit in Miami and Miami Beach, Florida. The scope of work for this project required constructing the new FRC Support Building, partial rehabilitation work at existing Building 7, connecting new water, sewer, fire protection, power and telecommunications services to the new building, parking and site work. The project was completed in 2012 and is LEED Gold certified.

Equipment and Systems Expectations
A complete, supervised automatic, microprocessor based addressable fire detection and alarm system was installed for full coverage of the new FRC Building.
Plumbing
Domestic water heating system were selected on energy efficiency and a 40 year life-cycle cost comparison. Life-cycle costs included maintenance and replacement costs. The plumbing design and construction work concurs with the applicable requirements of the International Plumbing Code (ICC).
Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC)
The mechanical design work and construction concurs with the latest ASHRAE manuals and standards, ICC International Mechanical Code (IMC), SMACNA, EPACT 2005, 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA 2007), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for New Construction (LEED NC) and NFPA. HVAC systems were selected on 40 year life-cycle cost comparison.
